From U6 grassroots to Over-50s legends, Savages Football Club has carried Pietermaritzburg's oldest football badge for over 140 years — a non-profit, volunteer-run home for players of every age.
Savages Football Club is South Africa's oldest football club, playing out of the Collegians Club on Boshoff Street in Pietermaritzburg since 1882. Through wars, world cups and generations of players, the shield has stayed the same.
Today Savages is a proud non-profit organisation, run entirely by volunteers who take no salary — from committee members to coaches giving up their weekends because they believe in what football can do for a community.
We field junior development sides from U6 through to U17, and keep the spirit alive with senior Over-35 and Over-50 teams who still turn out every week.

From a child's first touch to a lifetime love of the game — grassroots development sits at the heart of what we do.
Fun-first sessions building balance, ball skills and a lifelong love of the game.
FIRST TOUCH →Structured training and league fixtures that grow technical ability and teamwork.
BUILDING BLOCKS →Competitive junior football preparing players for senior-level standards.
NEXT LEVEL →Veterans' sides that keep the shield on the pitch and the club social calendar full.
STILL SAVAGE →A club is measured in Saturdays — juniors warming up, seniors grinding out results, and everyone back at the clubhouse after.
